School — The High Voltage
Technician Option of the OSU's Construction Technology program
provides a unique opportunity to work in the high voltage industry.
Directed study, lab experiences and actual field work will prepare a
graduate to enter the work force qualified to fill many of the
technical positions in constructing and servicing of high voltage
systems throughout the United States and around the world. Graduates
from the High Voltage Electricity Program can look forward to and
expect career opportunities with Public Service Companies, Utility
Construction Companies, and Power Generating Plants. The degree
program is recognized by the Department of Labor.
Southeast Lineman Training Center
offers the 15-week Electrical Lineworker Program (ELP), which trains
individuals for a career as an apprentice line worker. Utility
companies from all around the country recognize the ELP as one of
the best training programs in the industry and many companies
actively recruit their graduates.
